　　WE'VE been hearing and talking about it for a fairly long time： curbingwhat has bee known as “white" pollution。 But still we are using the whitepolystyrene (PS) foam food containers and other disposable plastic products，which largely make up this form of littering。

　　Miandianwang， a well-known local fast-food chain， is still handing outtakeout food in these PS foam containers， even though they should been phasedout before December 31， 20xx， under a Central Government decree。 One of thewaiters said in its outlet on Hongli Road on Monday that they are going toswitch to environmentally friendly containers “some time in the future"。

　　However， the Miandianwang outlet in Sam's Club， which is affiliated withWal-Mart， is offering take-out food in light brown containers which arebiodegradable。 Liang， a clerk with Sam's Club， told Shenzhen Daily yesterdaythat the club required the Miandianwang outlet to do so in its contract。

　　According to Liang， all the departments in the club switched tobiodegradable containers during the Spring Festival holiday。

　　Zhao Hua， with the energy division of the Shenzhen Municipal EconomicDevelopment Bureau， one of the five municipal government departments involved inthe curbing of white pollution in the city， said on Monday that large panies andretailers like Wal-Mart and Vanguard have responded to the decree by switchingto biodegradable containers。 But she admitted that is just the tip of theiceberg in the seemingly endless war on white pollution in the city。

　　Zhao's bureau has met with four other relevant departments on severaloccasions。 What they produced is not a feasible solution but an echo orrewording of the Central Government decree， according to Luo Wei from ShenzhenMunicipal Legal Affairs Bureau， who is responsible for reviewing this “echo"。The ”echo" has now been passed on to the municipal government which is expectedto announce it formally in the near future。 But Luo said she's not sure if thisrewording can play a significant role in eliminating white pollution in thecity。 “We don't lack laws， regulations or decrees。 The real concern is theeffective enforcement of these laws or regulations，" said Luo。

　　Zhao Hua admitted that cities like Shanghai and other coastal cities whichare sensitive about their image as tourist destinations are doing a better jobin this regard。 “Shanghai is said to have produced a very detailed handbook onhow to carry out the curbing work and Hainan has even banned disposable foamslippers in hotels，" Zhao said。

　　Liu Guanqing， president of Shenzhen Xunbao Investment Development Co Ltd， alocal manufacturer of biodegradable food containers was very eager to hear themunicipal government's decision on the matter。 “Since early this year， I've seenorders fly in。 I'll expand production once the government announces its stanceon the issue。"

　　As a result，the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass andforests was turned into barrens that supported fewer plants。 Another example wasin several developed countries。 Because many chemical factories dischargedpoisonous gas without filtering it， cities were covered with so much poisonousgas that people were killed by the air they breathed in。 What horrible scene!What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature once suffered。 Ifwe don’t take action to show respect to the environment， we will have to face anincreasingly awful situation。 Measures should be taken to protect theenvironment on which we are relying。

　　First governments should forbid destroying vegetation， rivers and lakes，oceans， as and the atmosphere as well。 Second voices should be made to announcethe public of the importance of protecting the environment。 Third enterprisesshould pay special attention to the effect they have on the environment and workout solutions for the problems。 Only by changing the way we treat theenvironment can we get along well with it。 Only by saving the environment can wesave ourselves。

Water is polluted, we have no clean water to drink.Many trees are cutting down, some animals are getting less and less. Somefactories are pouring dirty air into the sky. The population is increasingfaster and faster, resources are getting less and less…etc. Not only does itaffect our lives and health, it also has a great affection in the future.People’s health has been greatly affected by air, noise and water pollution.Many people died of diseases. In order to live a better life, something must bedone to stop the pollution. It’s our duty to protect our environment. Weshouldn’t throw away rubbish everywhere. Trees are very helpful and importantfor us. We should plant more and more trees in order to live better and morehealthy in the future.

　　If everyone makes contribution to protecting the environment, the worldwill become much more beautiful. In a word, if everyone pays more attention toour environment, there will be less pollution and our life will be better.“There is only one earth”, I hope everyone will protect our environmentwell.

　　在这个停课不停学的假期里，我便细细品读了这本《鲁宾孙漂流记》故事主要讲了：出生于商人之家的鲁宾孙不甘于像父亲那样平庸的度过一辈子，一心向往着充满冒险与挑战的海外生活，于是毅然舍弃安逸舒适的生活私自离家出海航行，去实现遨游航海的梦想。一次航行，船只被风暴打翻，鲁宾孙一人被海浪抛到一座荒无人烟的海岛上，然后在那里度过了28年孤独的时光。

　　如果我是他，当独自一人置身于荒岛之上，我不会像他勇敢吗?不，面对突如其来的灾难，我不可能像他那样积极自救;如果我是他，当船在暴风雨失事的时候，我会像他那样不向命运低头继续航行吗?不，面对充满困难和挫折的生活，我没那么勇气与自信;如果是他，当遇到野人用自己的同类开宴会时，我会像他那样站起来同他们战斗吗?不，我宁可躲得远远的，祈祷他们不要发现我……

　　鲁宾孙曾经说过：“我的脾气是要决心做一件事，不成功是不会放手的。”我要尽全力而为，只要我还能划水，我就不肯被淹死;只要我还能站立，我就不肯倒下……他没有工具，做的一些事情都是白费力气，连做一块木板都要四十二天，但他从来不灰心意冷，总能吸取一次又一次失败后的经验又重新开始。辛勤的劳动换来了回报，他最后有船，有面包吃，有种植园，有牧场……

　　读完这本书，我从鲁宾孙身上学到了做事要坚持不懈，始终保持一种积极向上、从容乐观的心态。人生不会总是一帆风顺，关键是遇到挫折时要有乐观积极的态度，用饱满的精神奋斗到底，勇敢的面对困难、克服困难，才能成功。

So manypeople now choose their house as to its environment but not its location andexpenses to afford it. As to government pollution, as to commonpeople. We also try to protect it and make it remain clean. Although we havemanaged to protect the environment to a certain extent.
